The more time you spend sitting, the shorter and less healthy your life will tend to be-that’s the new consensus among researchers. Even the World Health Organization (WHO) now lists inactivity as the fourth biggest killer of adults worldwide, responsible for nine percent of premature deaths.1

In fact, the medical literature now contains over 10,000 studies showing that frequent, prolonged sitting work, commuting, and watching TV at night significantly impacts your cardiovascular and metabolic function.

As for intermittent movement, the key, experts say, is to avoid sitting for more than 50 minutes out of each hour. Take a short breack

My advice

Take a short brake every hour. Get up, stretch, walk to a water fountain or restroom or jut take a piece of paper and walk looking busy.

That short 2 minutes brake will keep you healthier and more productive.

Use acupressure mat on your chair. That will massage your butt and keep blood flowing.

Remember that your body is designed to move, not to sit. So move. To stay healthy.

What Would the ‘Exercise Pill’ Mean?

The idea plays to our love of efficiency, spirit of entrepreneurship, and longing to install physicians and scientists as the new priests of the age.

No pill will replace active life.

Who needs that?

Sedentary life style and bad diet

Here we go! Just pop the pill.

The exercise pill would help on multiple fronts. First, just think what we could do with an extra two hours per week. We would finally have the time to sit down and phone an old friend, take another shot at those scrapbooks, or get that bathroom repainted. Time really is money, and getting those two hours back would count for a lot.

Pill-taking could easily be made into a group activity.

school children all over the country are still spending precious hours exercising during recess and gym, instead of hunkered down over their textbooks augmenting their vocabularies. Are you serious?

I am still not sure if this article is for real or just a satire showing the absurdity of our society behavior. Instant gratification. Just lay in the couch eat junk and take a pill or two or three(one to lower cholesterol, another to loose weight, and one on to for the cardio exercise. And you are done. Looking fit and lean.

And what about our kids? Isn’t their purpose in life is to study and study and study. 

And for adults to wonder what is it all about. Because if we to follow this madness to logical conclusion we might as well live in cages and take pills to stay alive.

Exercise addiction is a chronic loss of perspective of the role of exercise in a full life. A healthy athlete and an exercise addict may share similar levels of training volume — the difference is in the attitude. An addicted individual isn’t able to see value in unrelated activities and pursues his sport even when it is against his best interest. When emotional connections are passed up in favor of additional hours of training; when injury, illness and fatigue don’t preempt a workout; when all free time is consumed by training — exercise addiction is the diagnosis.

In the case of exercise addiction, the underlying psychological causes are usually linked by low self-esteem, which finds gratification in the gains made by training.

Smiles: instant rejuvenation


Life’s lessons have taught me this: a smile is the number one feature that makes people attractive. It’s a welcome mat. It’s what makes folks approachable. People with a great smiles radiate a warmth that draws others to them instantly.

Some people naturally have a great smile. Others analytical types like me must work at it. One way to tell if you’re in my category is to recall picking up your developed photos. As you flipped through the pictures, you didn’t like the way you looked in most of them. But then…you discovered that one great picture of yourself. In it, you look friendly you’re smiling broadly and your eyes twinkle. Now THAT picture looks like you!

Exercise should be fun!

During my “Boot camp” class I see some people who look fit and usually do good during class but I never see them smile. And I feel sorry for them. It seems for them workout is a very serious business and a grave responsibility. These very serious people do not look around. They do not return smiles. They work!

And I look at their faces and faces look old and tired and determined. But I see no life, joy or smile.

Now I know that exercise bulimics push through unbelievable pain to reach weight maintenance or weight loss goals. That is another subject altogether. In researching this article, I came across a quote by Barbara Ehrenreich ~ ‘Exercise is the yuppie version of bulimia.’ How true! Exercise solely to lose weight can quickly degenerate into something like exercise bulimia, an ailment that uses aerobic exercise in an excessive amount that is detrimental to health. If your body aches and creaks from years of exercise abuse and overuse, it will catch up to you. You may be traveling down the road to permanent immobility and pain. Exercise bulimia is real. Exercise used as a way to eat anything you want, will catch up to you, I promise. Exercise addiction is like any other addiction. Eventually it becomes a destructive activity.

Moderate forms of aerobic exercise are great for the health of your body-mind-soul, because it raises your endorphins, those wonderful, feel-good hormones that give you a natural high. But exercise compulsion in it’s extreme form, tears down your health and destroys the balance of your body, mind and soul!

The only way to stay healthy is keep your mind body and soul in healthy harmony. Your health is not just trim body. The mind-body-soul trinity cannot be severed without consequences. I firmly believe that people who don’t fulfill and enjoy natural physical and mental activities and needs cannot be healthy. So enjoy your workout, smile, enjoy your food and drinks. Smile is good for you and all around you. Sex is good for you. Enjoy it. Life without joy is just an existence. An exercise without the smile.
