The last leaf

Holding on

I am looking through the window

All is gray, wet and cold.

Droplets bombard the glass.

Black tree skeleton on the low heavy gray sky

Air is mixed with water dust and feels cold even from inside.

It makes my room feel warm and cozy.

Anticipation of winter in the air

Nature is ready for a long slumber.

Sleepy trees are shaking off last yellow and brown leafs

I noticed a single leaf

Still there, clinging to the black branch

Refusing to let go

The last leaf, it looked cold and lonely

The tree doesn’t want it anymore

But for the leaf it is so hard to let go

It was born there

There is a desperate hope, an illusion

The last leaf

It does not want to die

It does not know-it is dead already

But the tree knows.

The spring will come again

It will wake up to a new bright sunshine

Sun will paint the sky blue

Eagerly anticipating summer

The tree will grow new leafs, a new beautiful coat

The last leaf does not know that it is dead already

It is holding on

It feels that the Universe will end if it let go.

A gust of wind

The leaf falls now indistinguishable from from others

Nobody noticed this drama except me

Life goes on

Nothing changed in the universe

There will be another stubborn leaf next fall

The Bliss on not Knowing.

Not Knowing the future

Daily Wisdom

Time speeds up.

Live in the moment

I am watching the movie about life in Europe in the beginning of the 20 century, during the 20s. While watching people having a good time and preoccupied with their little personal dramas I cannot help but to think what awaits these people in the near future and I am thankful that life keeps the future hidden from us.

Only by not knowing the future can we enjoy life. Only by living in the moment can we go through life without going insane.

If we would be forced to go through life knowing the future life would loose it’s meaning because the present would cease to exist and one cannot get to the future without going through the present first

The Suits!

Need a scapegoat.

Daily Wisdom

Are suits to blame?

Did they wear this?

“U.S. Speed skaters reportedly were slowed by Under Armour suits…”
“U.S. blames speed skating suits for poor performance: Report”
“Are Flawed Uniforms to Blame for America’s Speed Skating Problems?”
“According to the The Wall Street Journal, the Under Armour Mach 39 suits, dubbed “the fastest speed skating suit in the world” by the company, have turned out to be quite the opposite, and could be to blame for the repeated underperformance of athletes who seemed destined for gold.”
Finally! We found the culprit! Now we know why American speed skaters suck at Sochi Olympics. It is the suit! The suit is to blame for the poor performance.
Silly me. I thought that there should be a body in these suits. A body that skates well. How wrong was I! The unscrupulous suits are sabotaging Americans!
There is just one question I have: I did not see the drag chute on these suits. Did you?
There is a saying in Russia: “To a bad dancer, even his balls get in the way”
Maybe a simple mirror would help to identify the problem?

 A divided World.

Obesity and hunger

Daily Wisdom

Junk food leads to obesity

Our eating habits

A strange paradox: more die from obesity than from hunger. So what are the possible reasons for humans to get fatter every yer? Is it just because we are eating too much? Or we eating the wrong food? Is it the life style and lack of exercise? Chemicals around us? Stress?

All of the above in my opinion.

“In a press release for the book, Burlingame said that 925 million people suffer from hunger, while 1.5 billion people are considered overweight or obese. However, in both of these groups people suffer from micronutrient malnutrition including vitamin A, iron, or iodine deficiency.”

Dangerously overweight.

Fast Food and Child Obesity

Hunger and obesity

Can you share? Please?

“Fast food is the wide term, used for food that can be cooked and served in very less time. Most fast foods are delicious, but there are several health issues related to consuming fast food. One serious concern is obesity amongst children.”

The Relationship Based on General Trends

Based on a large national study, body mass index (or BMI, an indicator of excess body fat) was higher every year between 1986 and 2002 among adults in the lowest income group and the lowest education group than among those in the highest income and education groups, respectively (Truong & Sturm, 2005).

Regardless of the reasons we just eat too much and don’t exercise enough. So please hit the gym! And please no processed food.

Gun control

Daily Wisdom

Assault rifles

Guns kill our future

Being dead is not good for your health. And military rifles make people unhealthy. Dead in other words. And these military rifles in hands of maniacs are really bad for your health. I am for healthy living-without the assault rifles and idiots who carry them.

Daily Widom

I was looking for a good quote about the excesses of Western lifestyle and could not find any.

So I will try to write my own. “If you use too much of everything the Life will compensate by shortening the time you are able to do it. You will die sooner.”

You choose!

Words of wisdom

You health.

..when I abandoned the smoking habit of more than three decades I was given a supposedly helpful pill called Wellbutrin. But as soon as I discovered that this was the brand name for an antidepressant, I tossed the bottle away. There may be successful methods for overcoming the blues but for me they cannot include a capsule that says: ‘Fool yourself into happiness, while pretending not to do so.’ I should actually want my mind to be strong enough to circumvent such a trick.”
