Promoting Immune System Health

 Nothing is worse than sneezing, sniffling, fever, and sore throat symptoms associated with the common cold and influenza.  There are a number of simple steps anyone can take to avoid getting sick and promoting general health.  The key to wellness is a strong immune system, and an immune system can be strong or weak depending on the person’s habits.  Things that weaken the immune system include lack of nutrition (poor diet), weakened physical condition (lack of exercise), stress, and lack of sleep.  Getting your daily vitamins and staying hydrated will work wonders to promote physical wellness, it’s also important to exercise three times per week, get at least six or seven hours of sleep, and don’t allow yourself to become stressed out. 

In addition to these practices that require a fair amount of effort, simple practices like washing your hands often and taking immune system supplements can help to combat illness.    It’s also a good idea to avoid touching your face, eyes, and mouth unless necessary.
