These infections usually develop on nails continually exposed to warm, moist environments, such as sweaty shoes or shower floors. Nail fungus isn’t the same as athlete’s foot, which primarily affects the skin of the feet, but at times the two may coexist and can be caused by the same type of fungus.The nail plate can have a thickened, yellow, or cloudy appearance. The nails can become rough and crumbly, or can separate from the nail bed. There is usually no pain or other bodily symptoms, unless the disease is severe. (Wikipedia)
Dermatophytids are fungus-free skin lesions that sometimes form as a result of a fungus infection in another part of the body. This could take the form of a rash or itch in an area of the body that is not infected with the fungus. Dermatophytids can be thought of as an allergic reaction to the fungus.

Comments: The nail is a dead organ, hence killing the fungi does not reform the existing nail. On the other hand, a relief of irritations is felt following 2-3 days of treatment. The healing can be seen from the nail’s root, by the growth of a healthy nail. For a nail fully infected with fungus, the treatment is recommended for 8 months. Following 8 months, if the fungus still reoccurs, continue the treatment until the nail is completely clear. For a nail that is half infected with fungus, the treatment is recommended for 4 months. The minimum treatment is 3 months for any other circumstances.
